Elements of Excellence in the King Fahd Complex Production

The most remarkable feature of King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an that distinguishes it from any other printing house all over the world is the great care the Complex attaches to its publications in order to be fault-free products. Therefore, its controlling capacity is the highest worldwide in terms of print production.

Revision of the printed and audio publications passes through different stages, the first being the academic revision, which is carried out by specialized committees that double check the publication under revision several times before moving to the production stage. When the production stage starts, a controlling section, which comprises the following departments, is assigned the responsibility of controlling it:

1. Text Check: a department responsible for ensuring that the text is free from additions or omissions. Its work starts before the process of printing. It checks the samples taken out from the printing plates. Then, it rechecks a printed sample, when operation starts. If the sample is free from faults, an order is given to continue production. Then, this department continues to work in parallel with the printing process; it picks occasional samples to ensure that the printed material is still error-free.
2. Quality Control: a department responsible for controlling the product, starting from the pre-production preparations until after finishing the binding process. This department controls the quality of printing through taking successive samples to ensure the integrity of the already printed material, be it text, colors, decorations, or other page components. Quality control also covers the processes of assembling, threading, stapling, and final packaging. Publications are checked for integrity, one by one. The recording process is carried out in the presence of the Academic Committee. Audio tapes are also checked to ensure their integrity and their being free form technical faults.
3. Final Check: a department responsible for checking each publication to ensure its integrity and its being fault-free, in terms of text and other technical aspects, such as printing, binding, gilding, etc. A fault-free publication is stamped with a quality passed stamp.
   Certain strict production standards have been set in order to ensure the integrity of publications and their conformity with the technical specifications.
